Mutual of Omaha is seeking a Finance and Accounting Manager to join the Financial Reporting team. This position will manage direct reports and lead the Company’s Funding Agreement Backed Note (“FABN”) program with oversight of the related statutory accounting and reporting.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:

  • Estimated Salary: $105,000-$125,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.
  • Benefits and Perks, 401(k) plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match.
  • Regular associates working 40 hours a week can earn up to 15 days of vacation each year.
  • Regular associates receive 11 paid holidays in 2024, which includes 2 floating holidays that are added to your prorated personal time to be used at your discretion.
  • Regular associates are provided sick leave through the use of personal time. Associates working 40 hours a week can receive up to 40 hours of personal time in 2024, which is prorated based on the start date. Additionally you will receive two floating holidays in 2024 by way of personal time that may be used at your discretion.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Lead the successful issuance of quarterly and annual updates to the Company’s FABN program.
  • Analyze statutory basis results, deliver insights, and review statutory basis financial statements, MD&As (management discussion and analysis), and FABN offering memorandums.
  • Organize and monitor project tasks internally and with external auditors to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering collaboration, equity, and inclusion, including providing mentorship and growth opportunities to support team members' success.
  • Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of journal entries and account reconciliations.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Subject matter expert knowledge of finance and/or accounting practices and procedures, preferably common to an insurance industry.
  • Advanced personal and team project management skills. Including the ability to establish and prioritize deadlines for themselves and others and execute against them.
  • Subject matter expert of statutory, GAAP, or other comprehensive basis of accounting, preferably in an insurance setting.
  • Excellent communication skills verbally, non-verbally and in written formats with peers and management.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple and competing priorities across projects and team.
  • Ability to collaboratively build relationships across the enterprise with intermediate influencing skills to accomplish projects and promote best practices.
  • Expert attention to detail and follow-up, analytical acumen and an advanced aptitude to solve complex problems using critical thinking, innovative and new ideas as well as collaboration with business partners to identify solutions.
  • You promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, value different ideas and opinions, and listen courageously, remaining curious in all that you do.
  • Ability to work at our home office located in Omaha, Nebraska, in a hybrid environment. 

PREFERRED:

  • Advanced knowledge of finance and accounting systems, including but not limited to Peoplesoft, PowerBI, Workiva Wdesk, and WINGS.
  • Advanced knowledge of life and health insurance business processes and products.
  • Designation specific to the finance and accounting field, such as a CPA (Certified Public Accountant).
  • Ability to successfully navigate shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
